FBD Insurance RAS 2007: Final Stage win for Brian Kenneally
The FBD Insurance RAS 2007 finished in Skerries on Sunday 27th May. The final stage from Newcastle, Co Down finished with Brian Kenneally hitting the finishing line fractionally ahead of Estonian, Andrei Mustonen and Glen Bak, a member of the Irish Team. It was Kenneally’s second stage win of the week.
The overall winner of the RAS was German rider Tony Martin. Tony finished 17 seconds ahead of Irish Rider Paidi O’Brien with Australian Peter McDonald a further 7 seconds behind in third place. There was another 3 Irish in the top ten- Stephen Gallagher, 6th, Brian Kenneally, 7th and David McCann 9th.
Dominique Rollin, US won the Green Points Jersey, Ricardo Van der Velde( Netherlands) the Pink Mountains Jersey. The overall winner Tony Martin also won the White Jersey, sponsored by the Irish Sports Council for the Best Young Rider. Brian Kenneally was the best Irish County team entrant.
Netherlands won the International Team Award and Meath the Best County Team.
