Dublin Horse Show: Glory for Twomey in Irish Sports Council Classic

Corkman Billy Twomey produced a home victory in the opening day’s feature event the Irish Sports Council Classic. Billy riding the mare Tinka’s Serenade was one of 15 riders, including another 5 Irish, who made it through to race against the clock.

Belgium’s Pieter Devos riding Tekila D set an early target with a clear round in 48.21 secs. Tipperary rider Denis Lynch came very close to Pieter going clear in 49.47secs on Upsolon D’Ocquier., eventually finishing in 3rd place. Billy Twomey rode brilliantly on Tinka’s Sereanade to go clear in 48.11 secs to pip Pieter by a tenth of a second to claim the first prize of €6,600.
