Dolan wins European Junior Event

Irish junior badminton international Johnny Dolan from Sligo is top of the European rankings after winning a European Junior Circuit event in Bulgaria.

Dolan, aged 18, beat Scotland's Josh Neil in the final. In earlier rounds, he had beaten top-ranked players from France, Holland and Turkey and put out fellow Irish international Josh Magee in the quarter-finals.

Next up for both players is the European Junior Circuit tournament in Dublin between September 6-8 and then the European Junior championships in Turkey at the end of the year.

"We were lucky to train with a group of Olympic players and a great coach from Korea before the London Games. That, plus watching Chloe Magee and Scott Evans in London, motivated us all to train hard this summer", said Dolan after his victory.
