Dingley Comfortably Through To Euro 3m Final
Oliver Dingley has progressed to his second Final at the European Diving Championships in London today. The 23 year old eased into the Final of the 3m Springboard in 7th place with a score of 404.35.
Dingley was never in doubt of making the final and remained within the top ten throughout the six rounds of dives. Top scores of 71.40 and 70.50 in rounds one and three made up for some lost points in round four but a 67.50 point dive in round 5 all but secured his place in the Final, before he sealed it with a last round 69.70.
"I'm really happy with this morning's prelims, it was a good performance and I felt very comfortable." Dingley commented afterwards "The depth of talent here is unbelievable, most of the guys who made the final have qualified for the Olympic Games, others who have qualified for the Games didn't even make tonight's Final. I'll be diving before Olympic Bronze medallist Illya Kvashi tonight so I'm pleased with that. For the final I will be changing my dive list to a higher degree of difficulty, the dives I'll use at the Games, so it's great to get the practice in."
Great Britain's Jack Laugher is the top qualifier going into tonight's 7.30pm Final with a score of 495.05.
