DEAF SPORTS Irish Deaf Sports Association (IDSA) 40th Book Launch & Press Conference for Deaflympics
Having reached 40 years of Deaf Sports, the ISDA have published a 240 colour production that covered 11 different sports played by the Deaf in Ireland and abroad.
The Hogan rooms of Croke Park was the venue for the Launch on 17th July attended by 300 guests, it featured screaming of our archives of the past 40 years, launched by Marie Ahern of Irish Sports Council.
After that, the IDSA President, Laurence Coogan announced the Irish Deaf teams for the 21st Summer Deaflympics in Taipei, Taiwan on September 2009.
Ireland will be represented in Athletics, Badminton, Men's Football, Swimming and Water Polo. The teams are positive to add to the 16 Gold, 14 Silver & 10 Bronze medals already achieved at Deaflympics.
Irish Deaf/Hearing International, Eoin Nolan (St. Vincents WP) will lead a strong Water Polo and Joseph Watson (Waterford Crystal FC), a former Ireland hearing Junior International, will play with Men's Football team in quest for medals.
The Teams will depart on 31st August and return on 17 September 2009.
