Darragh & Boyle Into Quarter Finals Of The 2014 Polish Open

19 Sep 2014

Rachael Darragh and Sara Boyle have made it through to the quarter finals of the doubles in the 2014 Polish Open.

The Irish pair playing in their first international event at this level outside of Ireland looked impressive as they beat Magdalena Jaworek and Aneta Walentukanis of Poland in 3 straight games. Tomorrow (Saturday) the pairing will face number four seeds Simona Kononykhina and Olga Lipkina of Russia with the winner being guaranteed a medal.

Earlier in the day Boyle lost out the singles to number 6 seed Laura Sarosi of Hungary. The game did not go all the Hungarians way however as Boyle took the second game before eventually losing out three games to one.

" It was a great performance by the girls today to progress to the Quarter final of the doubles tomorrow, Sara also had a very gutsy performance in the singles against the number six seed earlier today. The girls are enjoying the senior competition and it is good to see them rising to the challenge. Tomorrow will be a tough task as they face the number four seeds from Russia but the girls are ready for the match ahead" Badminton Ireland National Underage Coach Naomi Darragh
