CYCLING Irish Team Manager for FBD Ras Announced

Cycling Ireland have appointed Mehall Fitzgerald from Clonmel as the 2009 Irish National Team Manager for the upcoming FBD Ras. Mehall last rode the Rلs in 2006 and has won 5 stages of the race.

CEO of Cycling Ireland Geoff Liffey said: "we are extremely pleased to have ex-riders such as Mehall becoming involved in the sport, they have an enormous amount of knowledge which can only benefit those representing Ireland."

Speaking of his appointment Mehall gave the following reaction, "I was delighted to be given the opportunity to act as National Team Manager in this year's Rلs. The sport has given me many memorable moments as a rider and I feel it is only right that I put something back into it. Over my racing years I acquired vast experience of different management styles and I intend applying the best of what I learned. Once the team is known it will be a matter of setting realistic goals for the team after assessing the current form of those selected."
