Cricket - Ireland game against Hong Kong abandoned

06 Sep 2016

Ireland's game against Hong Kong was abandoned at Bready today without a ball being bowled.

The umpires decided ground conditions were unsuitable for play following a pitch inspection at 2:30pm.

Nizakat Khan of Hong Kong was named Player of the Series, while Hong Kong captain  Babar Hayat received the series trophy following his side's victory yesterday.

Ireland are next in action at the end of the month when they play South Africa and Australia in Benoni.

No play was possible either in the KPC Group Series between Ireland Women and Bangladesh.

The teams meet again at Bready on Thursday in a One-Day international - play starts at 10:30am and there is free entry.
