Eoin Rheinisch had to settle for 9th place in yesterday's KI at the World Canoe Slalom Championships.

Rheinisch , who finished 4th in last year's Olympics, qualified in 5th place for the final after an excellent semi-final performance. Unfortunately Eoin hit gate 5 for a two second penalty and as he tired he also hit the last gate to eventually finish in 9th place behind the gold medal winner Peter Kauzer from Slovenia.

In the team race on Saturday, the Irish team consisting of Rheinisch, Neil Caffrey and Ciarلn Hearteu finished in 15th place behind winners the Czech Republic.
