Canoe Slalom World Championships kicks off in Bratislava

09 Sep 2011

On Wednesday the Canoe Slalom world championships kicked off in Bratislava to a windy start but it didn't take long for the racing to come to an end.

Due to high winds the organizers stopped the racing and nullified the results as the conditions were unfair. Racing was very stressful for those involved as unfortunate penalties due to wind were set to decide whether or not individuals qualified for the semi-finals which will serve as Olympic qualifiers.

The organizers decided that the conditions were still unfair and hence racing has been cancelled racing starts again on Friday.

Eoin Rhineish , Ciaran Herteu and Patrick Hynes are racing in Mens K1 while Hannah Craig and Aisling Conlon are in the Womens K1

Olympic Qualification starts on Saturday for both events.
