Bus Eireann Womens National League Preview

17 Jan 2013

DLR Waves will look to continue their emerging reputations as the form team in the Bus ةireann Women's National League when they host Shamrock Rovers in a derby game at Jackson Park on Friday night (7.45pm).

The Dun Laoghaire Rathdown side caused a major stir last week when they ended the unbeaten run of champions Peamount United and they are bidding for their fourth win in five games

Larry Mahoney's side beat the Peas thanks to a Carle Moran double but they are well aware that they lost 2-1 to the Hoops in November.

Rovers boss John Walsh will be focusing on that victory when his side travel to Jackson Park. The Hoops were beaten 3-0 by Wexford last time out.

"Preparations have gone well this week. We trained Monday and last night. Niamh Nolan and Lindsay Hayden are back after a while out which will give us a bit more experience," said Walsh.

"DLR have improved but we got three points against them earlier in the season. They're the form team so it'll be a tough game but we're looking forward to and it should be a good game considering they have some ex-Hoops players in their squad."

Joanne Ennis (knee), Aoife Maloney (groin), Lisa Murphy (calf) are all doubts while Ciara Corby is out with hamstring injury.

The rest of the weekend's fixtures take place on Sunday afternoon as normal with Castlebar Celtic hosting new leaders Wexford Youths Women's AFC and Peamount United meeting FAI Umbro Women's Senior Cup victors Raheny United in Greenogue.
