"Sutherland Bows Out of Chemistry Cup"
Irish middleweight Darren Sutherland bowed out of the Chemistry Cup Senior Multi Nations in Halle eastern Germany today after he lost his semi final to Constantine Buga.
Sutherland, from the St Saviours OBA club in Dublin, lost the last four 75Kg clash 13-23 to the German and will take home a bronze medal from the tournament which is featuring twelve nations.
Sutherlands exit brings Irelands interest in the tournament to an end following defeats to light welterweight Aodh Carlyle (GoldeCobra) and bantamweight Kevin Fenessey (Clonmel) who went out at the quarter final stage.
Meanwhile, World lightweight champion Katie Taylor will be in the ring in Istanbul Turkey tomorrow to face French puncher Cindy Orain in the semi finals of the Ahmet Comet Cup.
Taylor has already seen off the challenges of two opponents on the 15 point rule to set up the last four clash, and the 20 year old St Fergal's Bray woman
is feeling confident.
She said: "I have enjoyed my two fights so far and I am looking forward to the semi final. It will be another tough fight but I would be confident that I will get the right result".
Taylor's dad and coach Peter is in his daughters corner in Istanbul.
