Bethel through to 200m Freestyle Final at EYOF

Lisburn City ASC swimmer Rachel Bethel is through to the 200m Freestyle Final on the last day of swimming at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Utrecht, Holland.

Bethel won her heat in a time of 2:06.78 this morning, taking almost a second off her previous best of 2:07.73. The 13 year old, born in 2000, will be the youngest competitor in the Final, with all others born in 1999.

Russian Arina Openysheva, who has already won five Gold medals at the competition, was the fastest qualifier from the heats in 2:06.09.

James Brown, of Ards Swimming Club, was also in action this morning in the heats of the 200m Individual Medley. His time of 2:15.41 placed him 27th overall.
