22 May 2008

On the 16th of May 2008, BWF (Badminton World Federation) informed all National Associations of an early re-allocation of Olympic positions and on that list a young 19 year old Donegal women got her reward for her dedication and hard work.  Chloe Magee will have her name submitted to the Olympic Council of Ireland for approval to be part of the Irish team and represent her country in the biggest sporting event on the planet.  She will join, already qualified, Scott Evans and play in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Ireland has not had Olympic representation in Badminton since Sydney 2000 when Sonya McGinn wore the green. At only nineteen and twenty years of age respectively Chloe and Scott have done remarkably well to secure Olympic qualification through such an arduous qualification process.
