Autumn Open 2014

22 Sep 2014

In the men's singles final it was number one seed Joshua Magee against Owen Marron. These players have had a number of good matches previously and today's final lived up to the billing with the match going all the way in the final game. Marron had looked strong in the third game leading at the mid game interval 11-7. After the mid game interval there were a number of long rallies, which took their toll on Marron as his legs started to fatigue. Magee took full advantage as he regained the lead and saw out the match 22-20 to secure the Autumn Open title.

In the women singles Laura Butler took the title beating Petra Rosolova in straight games. Butler looked in fantastic form throughout the event, as did Rosolova who had come through a tough semi-final encounter with Norma McIntyre earlier in the day. In the final Butler's fitness was just too much for Rosolova as she took the Autumn open singles title

In the men doubles final Magee secured his second title of the day with his partner Juan Manuel Fernandez Quiles. In the final Magee and Quiles beat Tony Murphy and Stuart Lightbody in an exciting three game match to take the Autumn open men's doubles title
In the mixed doubles brother sister partnership Ciaran and Sinead Chambers beat Tony Murphy and Jennie King. The Chambers looked in control from start to finish winning in two games with an impressive attacking display.

In the women doubles Chambers joined forces with Jennie King to secure her second title beating sisters Aisling and Moya Ryan. The Ryan's had played well on their way to the final but the experience of Chambers and King proved to be too much as they eased out a 2 game victory.

The next senior event coming up is the 2014 Connacht Open where these players will be back in action again.
