ATHLETICS Success for Niamh Whelan at England Junior Championships

Niamh Whelan, Ferrybank AC, Waterford won gold in the 200m and silver in the 60m.at the England Junior Athletics Championships in Bermingham last weekend. Niamh’s winning time of 23.92 in the 200m was well inside her previous best.

Niamh was awarded a grant (Junior category) under the 2008 International Carding Scheme. She will also benefit substantially from the 2008 Performance Plan allocation of €750,000 to Athletics Association of Ireland. This allocation covers training camps, competition requirements, coaching, sports science and medical support and equipment requirements.
