Athletics- Silver Medal for Ciara Mageean at World Junior Track and Field Championships

The final day of the World Track and Field Championships in Moncton, Canada brought Irish success with Ciara Mageean from Lisburn AC winning the Silver Medal in the 1500m.

Ciara's time of 4:09.51 improved her Irish record by over 6 seconds and she finished just over one second behind the gold medal winner Ethiopian Tizita Bogale.

After the race Ciara said" It's Ireland first ever medal on the track, I'm so happy, I'm so proud. I just wanted to do it for everyone back home. And to finish with a national record I'm thrilled. I knew I was in it on the final kick, I wanted to finish strong and I have the silver."
