Athletics: Gillick sets new Irish 400m mark

David Gillick, double Indoor European Champion, smashed Paul Mc Kee’s Irish 400m record when winning the 400 metres at Switzerland’s Athletica Geneve meeting last Saturday, 9th June.

Gillick’s time of 45.23 secs. is a big improvement on the National Irish record of 45.58 secs posted by Paul McKee five years ago.

The win in Switzerland is another boost for David’s preparation for the World Athletic Championships in Osaka in August. David will be one of the main attractions at the Cork City Sports on 30th June.
