The Schools' Track & Field Championships takes place over four weeks culminating in the prestigious All-Ireland Schools' Track & Field Championship in Tullamore, County Offaly, in early June each year. 25,000 athletes from 850 schools (70% of second level schools on the island of Ireland) start out in 16 regions throughout Ireland with a view to securing a place to compete in their Provincial Finals. The first two winning athletes in sprints and the first three in all other events of the Provincial Finals qualify to compete in the coveted All-Ireland Schools' Track & Field Championships.
Setanta Ireland with the support of the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland commissioned GTV Sport to capture this unique sports event in three TV programmes.
