2010 Youth Olympics

Triathlon: Casey excels in Triathlon Relay, posted: August 19, 2010

Laura Casey produced an excellent performance to lift Europe 2 into fourth place at the Triathlon team relay event this morning. Eleven teams representing the each Olympic continent competed in this new event. It would have been bronze but for a puncture on the second leg with Obozil having to stop and repair.

Casey lifted Europe to up five places with an outstanding performance. Her team of Mariene Gomez ( Germany), Jeremy Obozil ( France), and Lucas Kokar (Czc Republic) finished in a time of 1:22:11, 2mins behind the winners Europe 1. Only 7secs seperated the top three teams , Europe 1, Oceana 1, and America 1.

Its been a fantastic Triathlon competition for Irish Triathon's Casey, now a Youth Olympian, with an individual 9th place and 4th in the team event

Tennis :Morrissey bows out in quarter final, posted: August 18, 2010

John Morrissey lost his Youth Olympic quarter final tennis match to world number one Bhambra of India 6-4, 6-4.

Morrissey has surprised many at this tournament with his gutsy performances and his high level of technical ability. His quarter final status was well deserved and the Irish crowd were treated to one of the best matches of the tournament so far.
